What type of Traveler are you?
Lets face it, we are all different but that’s what makes us special! Each traveler, adventurer or holiday maker out there has their own unique style when it comes to letting off some steam and exploring new corners of the globe. Here are 5 general categories we came up with to stereotype the types of travelers we have encountered. Did we miss any? Where do you fit in?
Nomad / Camper
Examples: Christopher Mccandless (Movie: Into the wild)
Travel time: Indefinite
Food: Anything Cheap & that can be found along the way. Fresh fruit, veggies and bread.
Accommodation: Tents, abandoned buses
Typical Destination: Extended trails (NAT, ASIA, SOUTH AMERICA)
Activities/adventures:Every day is an adventure, no need to spend money on touristy gimmicks
Travel budget: <$5 a day
Budget Backpacker Examples: Most people who are gap yearing after finishing their final year of school
Travel time: 3 to 12months
Food: Free breakfast, free/cheap hostel dinners, cooked fresh produce, occasional splurges in cheap restaurants (particularly in countries like Mexico & Asia).
Accommodation: Hostel dorms, occasional camping
Typical Destinations: All over the world essentially. Europe, Asia, Central and South America, Australia.
Activities/adventures: Day trips with local transport, free walking tours, one off adventure splurges
Travel Budget: <$10-40 a day
Quarter life crisis Travelers Example: @Wanderlustaussies
Travel time: 2-6 months (unless deciding to live in a destination as a base and travelling from there)
Food: Hostel brekky, cheap street meals and the occasional restaurant splurge
Accommodation: Hostel private rooms, motels/Posadas
Typical Destinations: Western Europe, Asia, South America, Australia
Activities/adventures: Day trips with local transport, free walking tours, one off adventure splurges
Travel Budget: <$40-100 a day each
The 9-5 Holidaymakers Example:Those using up their 4 weeks of annual leave for a much needed indulgence and travel.
Travel time: 1-5 weeks
Food: Nice buffet breakfast and restaurants. Accommodation: 3-4 star hotels
Typical Destinations: Western Europe, Thailand, Greek islands, New York, Los Angeles, Ibiza, Santorini.
Activities/adventures: Contiki Tours, Sky diving, Parasailing anything that will make their Co-workers jealous essentially.
Travel Budget: <$100 -$500 a day
The Luxury Traveler Example: Instagram celebrities and the super rich.
Travel time: 3-10 days
Food: Hotel buffets, Michelin Star restaurants, $50 cocktails Accommodation: 5 Star hotels
Typical Destinations: Bora Bora, Paris, Cancun, Monaco
Activities/adventures: Day trips with local transport, free walking tours, one off adventure splurges
Travel Budget: > $500 a day
